Caretaker Report- Volume 3-Changing of the Guard
It was early February and that means it is time for our caretakers to switch out. Cory Burke had a good run, from around October 20 thru Feb. 9. He is now back in Southern Manitoba and as we know Cory, ready to do some SOUTHERN Manitoba ice fishing. Ryan Yaskiw is back at and already has a caribou down for some delicious winter sustenance. Ryan shared a few words and you can also enjoy Cory’s video of the skis plane landing.

From Ryan-
Hey everyone. Many will know me from previous winters or as a camp manager, but for those who don’t my name is Ryan Yaskiw. I’m subbing in as winter caretaker at the main lodge for Cory while he takes a break.
This is my third winter up here, and as usual I’m very excited to come experience the isolation staying up here offers. I’m incredibly busy both working for Ganglers as the manager of the Stevens/Nicklin outpost and running my own guiding business in Southern Manitoba, so being here is how I take a break. The isolation allows me a chance to recenter and refocus for the upcoming seasons. I utilize my time here to be creative, and also do quite a bit of hunting, fishing and photography. I also try to immerse myself in the culture of the north by attempting traditional ways of preparing the game I take, and I’m looking forward to sharing those experiences with you all over the coming weeks.
